Drafts for review, not legal advice. Laws vary by country and state. Terms

About Contracts.tools

Contracts.tools helps freelancers and small businesses put a simple agreement in writing and read the contracts they receive: fill in a neutral template, compare two versions of a contract, and check the usual clauses with plain-English questions to ask before signing.

Who runs this site

Contracts.tools (contracts.tools) is operated by Anderson Gomes Ferreira. contact@contracts.tools

How it works

The templates are original texts written for this site in plain English, balanced between both sides and marked as drafts for review. They follow no particular country’s law; you name the law that applies, and laws vary by country and state.

Everything runs in your browser. The PDF is drawn on your device with pdf-lib, an open-source library, and the Word file is assembled on your device too. The comparison tool never saves the texts you paste.

Where a page quotes official guidance (for example the IRS on independent contractors or the U.S. Copyright Office on when copyright begins), the quote is copied word for word and linked to the official page next to it.

Where the data and rules come from

How we keep the content up to date

The contract builder, the comparison and the exported files are covered by automated tests (every template, empty fields, characters that could break a Word file, long texts) that run before every release.

What this site is not

Contracts.tools is not a law firm and gives no legal advice. It does not know your situation or the law where you live, and it makes no claim about the effect of any document. Have every draft reviewed, ideally by a lawyer where you work, before anyone signs it.
